This issue examines how migration policy, labour-market rules and public supports interact with pay, bargaining power and opportunities for workers already in Ireland.
The honest answer is sector- and evidence-specific. A larger labour supply can affect bargaining power where enforcement is weak, but national headline data cannot prove that migration caused an individual wage or displacement outcome. This hub separates documented cases and scheme rules from broader claims.
Nationality counts, PPS numbers and Live Register totals are not wage-impact studies. They do not by themselves establish displacement, wage suppression or causation. Where a needed dataset is absent, the gap is stated rather than filled with an assumption.
